Bethesda Hospital

Main Switch Room Replacement

Working with Stantec Engineering and Price Trandos Switchboards, Foster’s Services were brought on to carry out a complex main switch room replacement and relocation project for the Bethesda Hospital.

From the tender stage right through to the final commissioning, this project involved MIMS terminations, complex upgrades to the site's main supply and coordination with the network operator. To minimise the impact to hospital operations, the new board was installed over the Christmas period when there are lower patient numbers.

Project details:

  • Decommission of the existing switchboard in pieces and progressively moving the sub-mains onto a new switchboard in a new location

  • Replacement of ATS with ASCO 7000, 3000A unit and connecting to the existing generator and new cabling into the sites SPD board

  • MIMS terminations

  • Temporary power supply to wards and other patient locations

  • Coordination with the network operator

  • High levels of communication and rotating shifts of staff completing the work.
