King Edward Hospital

Switchboard Upgrades

With the objective of achieving a higher level of electrical compliance, Foster’s Services were brought on to conduct extensive electrical assessments, repairs and replacements for Perth’s King Edward Hospital.

Being an old hospital and having to work around active wards, theatres, imaging centres, and birthing suites presented a number of challenges that the Foster’s Services team were more than skilled in dealing with. Our dedicated, site-based Project Manager worked seamlessly with the hospital’s staff and Foster’s tradesmen ensuring a successful project with minimal disruption to hospital operations.

Project details:

  • Replacement of the original power chassis and lighting chassis throughout the main hospital and outbuildings

  • Installation of RCDs in replacement of original fuses from the original build in 1953

  • Replacement of small light and power chassis in active wards

  • Installation and upgrade of 80+ distribution boards

  • Repair and replacement of dozens of switchboards

  • Installation of temporary services to allow for minimal disruption to hospital operations.
